Designed for busy campaign staff, in this flexible workshop series you’ll be able to pick the sessions that most apply to your specific needs and create a tailor-made experience that will result in a stronger, more intentional GOTV.
The Arena GOTV Workshop Series consists of a variety of two-hour, hands-on sessions to help campaigns and movement staff plan get out the vote.
We’ll workshop scripts, budgets, universes, and more plus share evidence-based best practices. These sessions will provide actionable steps you can take immediately on your campaign.

During this session, we will review the basics of Get Out The Vote and what to expect in the weeks leading up to election day. We will also preview the other sessions in the series.
During this session we will cover the core components of a GOTV Plan, where to gather the information that will inform your GOTV Plan, and the process you can use to create a comprehensive and multi-departmental GOTV Plan that will guide your programming.
You’ll have the opportunity to identify the key questions you should be asking and draft a GOTV timeline alongside trainers and other practitioners.
During this session, we will cover the key milestones during GOTV and review how to calendar and plan for them.
You’ll have the opportunity to build your own GOTV calendar and brainstorm with trainers and other practitioners.
During this session, we’ll cover evidence-based, best practices for GOTV messaging and scripts and how to strategically layer voter contact methods to mobilize your turnout universe.
You’ll have the opportunity to workshop your messaging and scripts with trainers and other practitioners.
During this session we will cover evidence-based practices for turnout targeting, how to estimate your capacity to reach voters, best practices for tracking and managing your data, and more.
You’ll have the opportunity to address the challenges you’re facing and brainstorm about your campaign’s targeting and data management with trainers and other practitioners.
During this session, we’ll cover best practices for budgeting during the fast-paced GOTV timeline for budgets during GOTV, how to set your budget, and how to track cashflow during GOTV. This session suggests best practices to align with reporting deadlines but does not detail compliance specifics or outline how to file reports.
You’ll have a chance to workshop your budget and brainstorm with trainers and other practitioners.
During this session, we’ll hear from the experts at Higher Ground Labs about the technology and tools that you can deploy during GOTV to strengthen your program. We’ll cover how to decide which tech to deploy, expected costs and budgeting, and effectively onboarding your team and data systems to new tools and tech.
August 27-29. Each session will be approximately two-hours. Exact times will be announced soon. Most of the session will not overlap with each other.
The GOTV Workshop Series will be held virtually on Zoom.
The sessions are offered at a sliding scale starting at $20 per session.
The true cost of attending six sessions is $418, please consider what you or your organization can contribute and pay accordingly.
Yes! The sessions are offered at a sliding scale starting at $5 per session. If this cost is a barrier to attend email training@arena.run to discuss a full scholarship.
This training is primarily for people who hold GOTV decision-making roles, such as: Campaign Managers, Deputy Campaign Directors, Organizing Directors and their Deputies, GOTV Directors, or Operations Directors.
Information presented may also be useful to Canvass Managers, Regional Organizing Directors, and staff looking for additional GOTV context. If you don’t hold one of those roles but think this will benefit you, don’t hesitate to apply, all are welcome!
Campaign staff are busy and often lack the time, resources, and guidance to proactively and effectively prepare for GOTV. We will present evidence-based best practices and tools far enough before GOTV so that decision-makers can plan thoroughly and prepare early enough to maximize their time and resources during the critical GOTV period.
