Arena Community Slack Norms
- Be Cool and Respectful: Keep the vibe positive. Disagree? That’s cool—just do it with respect and leave the snark at the door. Different views make us stronger, so keep an open mind.
- Inclusivity FTW: Everyone’s welcome here (except Republicans). Let’s keep it inclusive and super friendly. Use everyone’s preferred pronouns, and let’s make sure nobody feels left out or uncomfortable.
- We’re in This Together: Cheer each other on! Give constructive feedback and encouragement.
- Zero Tolerance for Jerks: Harassment? Not here, not ever. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and all that hate? Banned for life.
- Debate, Don’t Hate: Love a good debate? Us too! Just keep it constructive and focused on the issues, not the person.
- We have fun doing serious work: The work we do is serious. We don’t always have to be. We are fighting for people’s rights and life-changing policies, and to win we need joy. Find ways to infuse banter, gifs, memes, and fun into our collective time together.
- Abide by firewall policy: Please keep in mind that this Slack may include personnel from the other side of the firewall in a race you are working on. Accordingly, please do not share any nonpublic plans, projects, activities, or needs of your organization or client on this website; do not request or suggest that anyone else make an expenditure; and abide by any firewall policy under which you are covered.
If you violate one of these norms, the Arena Community Slack moderators will assess the severity of the violation and the next steps. Some violations may result in permanent removal from Slack, and some may result in remediation action steps such as a cooling-off period and apology.
But we aren’t too worried about violations, we know you’re here to connect, learn, support each other and have fun doing serious work!
