Cole’s Story

Cole has always had a passion for assisting vulnerable communities in accessing justice. When he discovered Arena Academy, he was excited to find a track specifically designed to help him become a better organizer to combat injustices. This opportunity aligned perfectly with his mission to make a meaningful impact. The Academy’s guidance and resources have been instrumental in shaping him into the effective and dedicated organizer he is today.

How has Arena Academy impacted you?

Even after graduating from the Arena Academy in Austin, Texas in 2022, I have remained connected to a daily job posting network for positions across the nation. A month after Arena 2022, this connection led me to my first role as a Field Organizer for the most competitive State House race in Texas. Since then, I’ve advanced through roles as a Field Director, Operations Manager, Communications Advisor, and now serve as a Campaign Manager. Each of these positions has connected me with incredible mentors, friends, and opportunities where I can make a tremendous impact on the community around me.

The Arena Academy equipped me not only with essential skills and knowledge but also with a toolbox of templates—from call time trackers to budget proposals and mail budgets—that I constantly refer back to in my work. It’s invaluable to have these resources at hand, along with the ongoing support of the Academy’s staff members who are always just an email away.

What advice would you give future Arena Academy participants?

Take advantage of the amount of resources, always be willing to learn, and stay connected with the wonderful Arena Academy staff members who are always an email away to support.
