Arena Connections Code of Conduct

Arena Connections is a one-stop shop for networking and mentorship. With that said, Arena does not endorse, approve, or is otherwise affiliated with any advice you may receive through mentorship or networking conversations.

If you see anyone violating this code of conduct, please email careers@arena.run.

Before using Arena Connections, we ask you to commit to the following:

  1. Respect the space. Arena Connections is a networking platform to meet people. When meeting people, treat others like you would like to be treated.

  2. Assume best intentions. Everyone in Arena Connections is at a different place in their career. Some are looking for their next job. Others are working incredibly intense political jobs. If someone doesn’t get back to you or you have an unproductive conversation, it’s ok; there are plenty of other folks in the space to talk with!

  3. Don’t spam. Do not use Arena Connections to spam hundreds of people. The search parameters are there for a reason. When you reach out to folks, you should have a specific ask and/or reason why you want to talk with them. If you spam, we will see on our backend and you will be permanently banned from Arena Connections.

  4. Give responsible, legal advice. Before giving advice, please make sure it is legal and you’re always helping people do the moral, responsible, people-first option. Your advice is your own, but please remember you are engaging in this relationship via Arena.

  5. Help folks use the tools that already exist in their workplace. If someone comes to you with a case of workplace misconduct or abuse, help them think through what resources exist within their workplace to navigate this challenge. While you can give advice, please do not try to solve the problem on your own.

  6. Be present. If you’re networking or on a mentorship call with someone, make sure to be present for the call. Leave your video on—if a video call—and avoid other distractions online, on your phone, or in the room.

  7. Make space, take space. Please be mindful of your participation relative to others. If you find your voice in conversation more often than others, it’s a good idea to check in and step back to make room for others to participate. If you find yourself speaking and participating less, we encourage you to lean into conversations and the experience. Regardless of where you fall in this scale, know that your perspective is valued.

  8. Observe and ask for gender pronouns. We will encourage everyone to list their pronouns on their onscreen name in our virtual platform if they are comfortable doing so. GLAAD provides helpful guidelines.

  9. Come with purpose. Spend some time before using Arena Connections to center yourself in your purpose and personal goals (we promise if you do this, you’ll get even more out of this experience!).

  10. Bring good vibes. Arena Connections is a positive space for you to meet fantastic folks who work in politics. But it’s only as good and positive of a space as you make it!
